Honey Citrus Sour

A beautifully balanced cocktail that celebrates Taurus's connection to the earth's bounty through local honey, while bright citrus provides perfect counterpoint to the bourbon's warmth. The silky texture from egg white creates a luxurious mouthfeel that satisfies Taurus's love for sensory pleasures. The presentation with honeycomb garnish honors the patient work of bees, a perfect metaphor for Taurus energy.

  • 2 oz bourbon

  • ¾ oz fresh orange juice

  • ½ oz fresh lemon juice

  • ½ oz local honey syrup

  • 1 fresh egg white

  2. In a cocktail shaker, combine bourbon, fresh orange juice, fresh lemon juice, local honey syrup, and egg white.

  3. Dry shake (without ice) vigorously for 30 seconds to emulsify egg white.

  4. Add ice and shake again for 15 seconds until well-chilled.

  5. Double strain into a chilled rocks glass with no ice.

  6. Garnish with a small piece of honeycomb, dried citrus wheel, and fresh thyme sprig arranged artfully on the foam.

Notes

  • Local honey syrup will keep refrigerated for up to 3 weeks

  • For a less sweet version, reduce honey syrup to ¼ oz

  • The egg white is essential for the silky texture but can be replaced with aquafaba

  • Use honey from your local region for the most authentic connection to your terroir

  • Best served in a rocks glass with no ice to maintain the silky texture

  • Pairs well with: Buttery shortbread, mild cheeses, or as a sophisticated brunch cocktail
