Uranian Elixir
This transformative cocktail embodies the innovative spirit of Aquarius through its ethereal purple hue and complex flavor profile. The violet's mystical properties align with Uranus's revolutionary energy, while the gin's botanical structure represents Saturn's grounding influence. The result is a perfectly balanced drink that elevates the traditional sour format into something truly revolutionary.
Ingredients:
1.5 oz London Dry Gin
0.75 oz Violet Syrup
0.75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
0.5 oz Elderflower Liqueur
Garnish: Candied violet and lemon wheel
Glassware: Chilled coupe
For the Candied Violet Garnish:
Fresh edible violets
1 egg white
Superfine sugar
Instructions: For the Candied Violets (prepare 24 hours in advance):
Gently wash and dry fresh violets, ensuring petals remain intact.
Whisk egg white until slightly frothy.
Using a small brush, carefully coat each violet with egg white.
Sprinkle superfine sugar over both sides.
Place on parchment paper and allow to dry for 24 hours at room temperature.
For the Cocktail:
Begin by chilling your coupe glass with ice and water while preparing the cocktail.
Measure all ingredients precisely using a jigger into a clean shaker tin.
Fill your shaker ¾ full with fresh, clear ice cubes.
Seal your shaker tightly and shake vigorously for 10-12 seconds until the tin is frosty.
Empty the ice and water from your coupe glass.
Double strain through a Hawthorne strainer and fine mesh strainer into the chilled coupe.
Garnish by floating a candied violet on the surface and delicately placing a thinly sliced lemon wheel on the rim.
Notes: For optimal results, use a premium London Dry gin with prominent juniper and citrus notes. The violet syrup should be vibrant in both color and flavor - consider making it fresh in-house for the best results. Store candied violets in an airtight container with a silica gel packet to maintain crispness. The cocktail should be served immediately while at peak temperature and presentation.
